August supports legal research grounded in Brazilian law. For organizations configured with Brazil jurisdiction, August grounds legal analysis, drafting, and advice in Brazilian law by default — the Constitution, the Civil Code, Lei das Sociedades Anônimas (Law 6.404/76), the LGPD, the CLT, and the surrounding regulatory framework — and its web research for Brazilian legal questions is restricted to official government sources rather than the open web.

This behavior applies when your organization is tagged with jurisdiction = BR. If your organization is not configured for Brazil jurisdiction, your research queries follow standard routing.

What Changes for Brazil Organizations

  • Brazilian law by default. Ambiguous legal-research queries are grounded in Brazilian statutes, regulations, and jurisprudence; non-Brazilian legal concepts are flagged as outside the jurisdiction when they come up unprompted.

  • Official sources first. Legal-research queries in Assistant search the curated Brazilian government and court sources below.

Coverage Notes

Some federal regulators publish only on shared gov.br agency pages that cannot be isolated as dedicated research sources — ANVISA, CADE, ANEEL, SUSEP, ANS, and ANP are currently in that group. August can still research these agencies through general web research and through the DOU, where their normative acts are published, but they are not part of the restricted official-source set. Regulators with their own dedicated portals (BCB, CVM, Receita Federal, ANATEL) are covered directly.

  • Cross-border matters: "What are the tax implications for a Brazilian company acquiring a Delaware target?"
