Project Memories

Memories are durable facts August keeps for a project — established case details, key dates, decisions, and document conventions — and injects automatically into every chat and agent run in that project.

What a Memory Is

A memory is a short, self-contained statement, not a running transcript. It records things worth remembering across sessions: a matter's key parties and dates, a decision your team made, or a convention this project's documents follow. Each memory can link back to the source document it came from, so you can open the file that supports it.

Where Memories Live

Memories are scoped to a project — open a project and select Memories to see its list. Your personal workspace doesn't keep memories; project memories only exist inside projects.

How Memories Get Created

Automatically, from agent runs: While working in a project, August saves facts it establishes as it goes — for example, an agent run that confirms a closing date or a term extracted during review. These appear in the list as they're written, without action from you.
Manually, by you: Click Add memory on the project's Memories page and type the fact you want August to remember going forward.

Editing and Removing Memories

Editors and above can edit or remove a memory. Editing a memory always marks it as user-asserted, even if August originally wrote it — once you've reviewed and changed the wording, the memory reflects your judgment. Removing a memory archives it rather than deleting it outright, so the record of what August once believed is still available if you need it later.

Each memory has a 5,000-character limit. A live counter on the editor turns red as you approach it.

How Memories Are Used

Active memories are injected into every chat and agent run in the project automatically — there's no per-memory toggle to turn one off temporarily. If a memory is wrong or outdated, edit or remove it rather than trying to override it in a single conversation.
