Getting Started

Using August in Edge or Chrome

August works directly in your browser. This guide covers accessing August in Edge or Chrome, working alongside other applications, and using templates for efficient workflows.

This video shows how to open and access the August web application.

Accessing August in Edge or Chrome

  1. Open your browser and navigate to app.august.law.

  2. Sign in using your firm email and credentials.

  3. Bookmark the page for quick access.

Best Practices for Browser Use

  • Pin the tab. For heavy users, pin the August tab so it is always available for quick prompting.

  • Work alongside other apps. Keep August open next to your DMS, email, and other systems so you can copy text or upload documents quickly.

Opening Documents from Your Browser

When working with documents from your document management system or deal room:

  1. From your DMS or deal room in Edge or Chrome, download or export the relevant files.

  2. Upload them into August for analysis.

  3. For web-native content (e.g., SEC filings, online policies), save or export to PDF where possible before uploading.

  4. Use consistent naming conventions so you can align August outputs with your matter folders.

Using Templates in the Browser

Build reusable prompt templates to standardize your workflows:

  1. Create reusable prompt templates (e.g., "standard contract review prompt," "standard litigation case assessment prompt") and store them in your knowledge system.

  2. When working in Edge or Chrome, copy the relevant template into August, paste the matter-specific details, and run the prompt.

  3. Maintain practice-specific libraries of templates so associates can quickly adopt established workflows.
