Open Shared Document Links

When someone shares a document link with you, the viewer opens directly to the relevant page or section. Shared links can include highlighted regions that draw attention to specific passages, making it easy to jump straight to the content that matters.

Shared document links open August's document viewer with a precise view of the source material. Depending on how the link was created, you may see:

  • A specific page: The viewer opens directly to the page containing the referenced content.

  • A highlighted region: A bounding box highlights the exact passage or section of interest.

  • A full document: The viewer opens to the first page with the full document available for navigation.

This behavior is commonly used when citations from Assistant or Tabular Review reference source passages, or when a colleague shares a direct link to evidence within a document.

Click the link to open the document viewer. If you're already logged into August, the viewer opens immediately. If you're not logged in, you'll be prompted to sign in first.

Once open, you can:

  • Navigate through the full document using the page controls.

  • Zoom in on the highlighted region for closer inspection.

  • Return to the source conversation or review to see the context that generated the link.

Why Highlighted Regions Matter

Highlighted regions help you quickly locate the specific passage referenced by a citation, summary, or analysis. Instead of scanning through pages of dense legal text, the viewer draws your eye to the exact language supporting a claim or conclusion.

This is particularly useful when:

  • Reviewing citations from Assistant outputs to verify source support.

  • Examining evidence pulled into a tabular review.

  • Following up on a colleague's shared reference to a specific clause or section.
